Animation became a large piece of Earth AI’s website strategy. Even with an informative website, Earth AI found themselves constantly explaining what they did, and why their algorithm is such a breakthrough for the mineral discovery space.
I worked closely with the Earth AI team to create an animated infographic, which replaced the homepage of their website. The animation progressed (or regressed) when the user scrolled down the page. Using code, live text cards (not shown) appear over the top of the animation once certain frames in the animation were reached.
This animation-forward strategy eventually expanded into other pieces of Earth AI collateral later in the year.
Process
Before jumping into animation, I roughly sketched artboards for each keyframe, and presented them for discussion and approval with the client. Accompanying text, animations, and transition ideas were discussed and annotated.
Talking Decks
Portions of the homepage animation were repurposed for a new context: Supporting graphics for a series of investor talks all over the world. These portions and other new animations played from a PowerPoint deck.
Additional animations were created exclusively for the talking decks.
